Anna's travels......
Been in Queenstown since Friday and it is great. Such a party town. Just what I needed as it has been rather quiet in all the other towns. Met up with Alan's friend Hayley, she is going to be living here for a year. Went out with her and her mates and got very drunk. Had a great night. Though at the end of the night I didn't know where the hostel was?!? Whoops. It was only a 5 minute walk up the road but I wasn't sure what direction, in the end Alan and I got a taxi, lucky the driver knew where it was. Saturday was a bit of a wash out, just had a walk round town, which is very nice. We managed to get enough energy together to go out again and do it all again. Another great nite. We were up until about 6am in a sports bar watching the footie. Was rather drunk again, but managed to find the hostel this time.
Sunday another hangover, finally got up about midday. Felt I had to see more than the dorm at the hostel, and also there is a couple in the dorm having sex all the time! It is driving me mad!!!! Can't they get a private room. Not a good thing to hear when you haven't seen your boyfriend in 2 and a half months and still have another 6 weeks to wait. It they are still at it tonight I may have to say something!!
Went up the mountain (skyline), by gondalo (like ski lifts), I thought this was rather scary. Once at the top you should have a lovely view of Queenstown but hard off the view was hiden by a massive cloud. God it was so cold today. Probably about 2"c. At the top we also had a go on the Luge, these are like little Go-Carts. You go up in another Ski Lift (this was scarier than the last one, Oh I hate then lifts), once at the top you get in your luge and go down a track. It was great fun, I did hold onto the brake a bit too much! I am such a scardy-cat! Getting worst with age!
Monday went to Milford Sound (which is a fjord that leads to the open sea). It was beautiful. It is 5 hours from Queenstown. We travelled along Lake Wakatipu, pass Te Anau. Once we got there we went on a boat for 2 and a half hours. Saw the untouched wilderness and native wildlife (saw a few seals, but no dolphins) We saw a few waterfalls, there wasn't that many as there hasn't been much rain in the last 9 days. Milford gets the most rain in the whole of NZ. It normally rains every other day there. The more it rains, the more waterfalls you see, and the better it looks. It did start to rain and it went very misty and this made it look even better. Nice day but was tired at the end of it. Just had a early night, ready for Dunedin tomorrow.
