Anna's travels......
Monday: Magic bus picked us up, 1st stop Mount Eden, a former volcano with a huge crater, cows now surround this. We also got to see the view of Auckland city at 8am in the morning.
2nd stop Waitomo. Went to the underground caves. Very exciting?!? We got to see glow worms. Then we went to see Rabits being sheared. These big fluffy rabbits have to be sheared every 3 months to stop them getting matted. Poor things. They look very funny, wait for the photos.
3rd and last stop of the day Rotorua - nicknamed Sulpher City. It has lots of hot springs and geysers here. Whole city also smells like eggs! (you get used to it).
In the evening we went to a Maori Cultere evening. Saw the traditional dancing, living, singing and got to taste the food. They used to cook their food under the ground (now the people use ovens :), but for this eveing they still use the traditional underground cooking method.
Tuesday: Got up and went for a run, because I'm feeling so un fit. Ran round the Rotorua Lake. Very nice little town. On the way I pasted the park and it have lots of hot springs (you can't get in these as they are boiling hot).
Went Zorbing in the afternoon. Great Fun. Rolled down the hill in a air ball, filled with water. You roll everywhere. It only lasted about 30 seconds though. Shame it didn't last longer.
Wednesday: Went running again, Wow. Even managed to get Alan up to come with me. He had trouble keeping up. Afterwards we went to the Polynesian Spa, one the to 10 in the world. It was so nice. Outdoor Hot Mineral pools and Spa's. I enjoyed the views of the lakes while sitting in pools with temperatures of 36 - 41'c. Just what you need after a long run.
Turned into a hair dresser today and gave Alan a hair cut. Looks cool. Sister Claire, looks like I'll be following in your footsteps!! :)
In the afternoon went water rafting. It was wicked. Had such a good time. Went down Kaituna River. It is the highest commercially rafter waterfall. We went down the 7 meters waterfall. 1 person fell out, lucky it was not me. When we went down the fall the whole boat went under water and I swallowed half of the river. At the end of the tour the guide told me to sit up the front, I didn't know what was going on until I was nearly drowning! They were pushing me into one of the water falls. Very Funny boys!!! Check out the photos...............
Tomorrow we are off to Taupo...............
