I obviously have to start this blog off with GO PITT! We're officially in the throes of March Madness, and Pitt conquered Oakland and is now playing Xavier at 4:50 Eastern Standard time also known as 9:50 Amanda time. I discovered that CBS broadcasts all March Madness games for free, so I'm in heaven! We won against Xavier last year, but this year it really could go either way.
Last Wednesday I had my first midterm in Spain—it was in my Flamenco class. It went off without a hitch, and took me all of half an hour to complete. That night, I had a dream that my teacher stood up in front of the class wildly waving an exam with a big "100%" written at the top of it. He was going on and on about how it was such a perfect exam and this is how every exam should look. Everyone in the class was asking "whose is it??" and he came and stood in front of me, bowed, and said, why, it is yours Amanda Lustig. Of course, it was a dream—but a good one! Let's hope it comes true—minus maybe the bowing.
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous in Sevilla FINALLY! I spend as much time as possible outside. My friends and I often sit by the river just relaxing and talking and maybe even getting some studying for midterms done. If it's just between classes, we'll find a bench near the university and relax in the sun until our next class begins. It's a pretty tough life, I'm not gonna lie.
On Friday, ISA had a daytrip to Ronda. It's up in the mountains and a lot of us even felt our ears pop on the bus ride there! It was full of really beautiful scenery, and most importantly the oldest bullring in Spain. We got to have a tour of it, and even see some of the horses used in bull fights being trained! It was a pretty short visit, but it was a very beautiful city!
Sevilla is busily getting ready for Semana Santa (the week leading up to Easter). Every night, there are groups of men practicing carrying the floats for the parades. It's pretty eerie. There are about 30 men shuffling along the streets carrying platforms with cinder blocks on top to simulate the weight of the statues that are going to eventually be on top. I can't wait to witness the actually parades! I'll be sure to take loads of pictures!
Other than that, it's been pretty uneventful here. My next big travel plans are happening during Semana Santa—I'm just not sure where I'm going yet! I'll keep everyone posted!
¡Mucho amor y besitos!
