Anish's Travels
Day 68, 69, 70 (17/05 - 19/05)
Ok, didnt do much on Krabi. It rained all the time aswell. Left Krabbi on the 17th and headed for Ko Phi Phi. Again, didnt do much on here, mainly because the weather has been bad, raining and cloudy. Not really beach waether, but the beach still looked really nice; white sand clear water. The effects of the Tsunami are still there to be seen, with new development still occuring, but much of the island has recovered and building reconstructed and restored. Met some Israelies at our guesthouse, and started playig cards with them. They were nutters, funny as ya like. Ended up watching the Champions League final with one of them at 2am on a hige projector screen, in a reggae bar, sitting in a Muy Thai boxing ring, whilst it was raining (There was no roof except over the ring) Was fun. Next day (Friday 19th), i went to the high point on Ko Phi Phi Don which involed climbing many stairs and walking up hill..was nackered when i got up there. There are 2 islands; Ko Phi Phi Don & Ko Phi Phi Leh. Ko Phi Phi Leh was where The Beach was filmed, but can only get there by a tour which costs a fortune, and wasnt really worth it seeing as it rained everyday. From the high point, there was a beautiful view of the island below, even though it was cloudy. I sat there admiring the view, and then i look to my right, across at the ocean, and see this fog approaching. Well it turned out it wasnt fog, it was a wall of rain. Never seen anything like it. You could see it advancing across the ocean and bay, and eventually it hit us, so had to find shelter. Waited for about 30 minutes before heading back down to town. In the afternoon we left for Phuket (Len had been diving all morning)
Didnt do anything in Phuket, except watch Da Vinci Code. Its a very commercial island, with malls and shops everywhere.
On the evening of the 19th we left for Malaysia on an overnight bus..an 11 hour journey.
