Saturday 7th June, 2008

Today was family meeting day. We drove to Sunderland about 1 1/2 hours from Berwick and had a sight see on the way. We got lost even though Jean grew up there so many things had changed she didn't know where to go anymore. I got to see the house where Mardi (My grandmother) grew up and church where my Great Grandfather worked. I meet Jeans Sister Sheila and we all went to Lunch in a cute little garden shop looking out into green grass and Thomas Earl Monument. This Monument was built because this guy had way to much money and wanted to make the hill look prettier, The structure was huge and made you think, how the hell did they build this in 1844 without the modern tools.

After lunch i got the meet Joan, My mum's cousin and Joan's husband, daughter and grandsons in Sunderland. They can talk alot, now i know where mum gets it from. They told a few stories about Mardi back in her English days and when she came over to visit. They were all happy and funny stories which was the side i never really got to see or remember. The half an hour we planned to stay turned into 1 1/2 hours. By the end of the day i was pretty worn out.
