G'day Mate
- Tuesday 8th April I survived my first international 8 1/2 hour flight. Wasn't as long and boring as i thought it would be. Was very impressed by the food and movies. I only got about 10 minutes sleep as to excited. When we arrived in bangkok we got a shuttle bus which was a great way to see what we were entering, it took about 2 hours. Once we stepped off the bus we were hit by the heat and this overwheling smell. The street was packed with motorbikes and people in our faces asking if we wanted a taxi or tuk-tuk. We decided to starting walking to hotel as on map looking close and start forward. We got Lost, We claim the map was wrong and with our 18kg backpacks, the heat and crossing the road was proving to be a mission. We soon found out that pedestian crossing don't mean a thing over here. We jumped in a tuk-tuk and only just fitted in with our huge backpacks and we made the little thing work for its money. A few days later we realised the price we paid was much more then we should of paid for 3 blocks. (we paid the same for 15 min across the other side of town). Finally checked into the Grand China Princess and had a nap and shower, then heading to explore the streets. The smell & heat once again was very strong. The streets are lined with little market stales and people saying Hello, Want to Buy? You had to be so careful where you walked down the side streets because you could get a motor bike up your backside when not looking. (lanes don't mean anything they just drive where ever they want) Back to hotel we checked out the pool area and found we had a pretty impressive view so decided to eat dinner over looking the city (see photos)When back in the room we got a call from Hotel asking if we wanted to go to the night markets so we went. Our hotel taxi driver Mr Danny was very helpful and let us know some useful information about Thailand. The markets were amazing but again had people always saying Hello, Want to Buy? and hassling us. This place was very clean and smelt nice. We didn't stay long as sleep was needed.
