Throughout our tour we have been very lucky that our tour leader Pok has been sharing his knowledge on almost everything, and this morning was another chance to experience part of the culture and traditions that I think we both were hoping for before we started our travels. We had to be up early as at sunrise the monks walk through the streets and collect food donarions from the local people who wish to give. They in turn then give some of their donated food to the children who ar sat on the street. It was very worthwhile getting up to witness this. In the afternoon we went elephant riding. I really enjoyed it altough would've preferred to have stayed on the seat rather than the neck of the elephant that I think I got tricked into remaining on by the Mahout! Needless to say I had a sore bottom for a few days as believe it or not elephants aren't the most comfortable of animals to ride. I think i'm right in saying Ang feels glad to say she did it, but not an experience she wishes to repeate any time soon, but very proud that 30 mins in to the ride she braved resting her feet on the elephant rather than trying to avoid having to do so x Aftter the riding Nik and a few others from the group enjoyed bath time in the river with their elephants which was great fun. Ang visited some near by waterfalls, and had another animal experience from which she gained another bruise after trying to get away from the fish ! We watched the sunset from the Stupor, found a nice wine bar and visited the night market.
