Drinking Cheesy Feet
There were a few hours spare before we had to get the boat back to Port Barton. You would have thought I would have got the hang of re packing the bag by now, the contents don't change but I'm sure things go in a different order each time I do it. I sampled the brewed Filipino coffee. It was actually pretty good and was a blend of both Robusta and Arabica which meant it had the smell of the the Vietnamese coffee I like and some of the taste without the bitterness and need for sugar. We went for one last walk along the beach, it was starting to rain and as we got to the end of the bay I witnessed something moving in the trees, it was some monkeys! I didn't get a clear view of them, but I still felt like this was a bit of a victory in my attempt to see some. Always good to leave somewhere when it's raining though!
The boat journey was much easier back, we took a smaller, quicker boat and the waters were much calmer. There was a 90 minute wait in Port Barton for the bus back, which was busier this time and had to stop a lot for locals getting on and off. The crew do this bumpy journey in and out of Port Barton everyday, and probably for very little money. That desk job looked a lot more appealing all of a sudden.
Most of the day was spent travelling but we did venture out to a vegetarian restaurant that we had read about. There were only a handful of tables and what looked like a army of people behind some glass preparing the food. One sole waiter seemed to struggle to take orders, write bills and deliver the food all at the same time. I ordered Enchiladas, the plate was quite small when it came out but it tasted great. We had to order some nachos to fill us up but one of the best parts was the hot sauce. It looked homemade, and it seemed like the first time in ages I'd felt part of my mouth go numb. This made me very happy. I also had some Gayabano juice, I had looked up what it was, it's a fruit that's considered a superfood, looks like a prickly pear and also called a Soursop. It tasted slightly like how I think cheesy feet would be, but it did get better towards the end.
