Well its been a while, I've been in Melbourne since late April and been having a really good time! I'm staying in St Kilda which is supposed to be the red light district but think all of that's been taken over by backpackers and there are loads here and I'm always bumping into people I know. I've been working at a place called computershare for a couple of months now dealing with shares and so on and its a massive place they put all the backpackers in the basement and try and keep us hidden! They had an end of tax year party which was for permanent staff early but we went and it was free drinks and pizza so i ate and drunk for fun that night! Although its been a long time since I've written anything its mainly because I've been working and its just like being back home trying to save for when I travel the east coast, I've met loads of people and also meet up with a few old faces as well, loads of the Berri lot came down for a weekend and met them and others on different occasions and we look back on the good old days of picking fruit for not much money! The weather here is crap and its really cold, when I first got here it was OK and went on a boat trip but now its wrap up warm and sit by a heater style weather. rnThe highlight so far has to be NEIGHBOURS night! Its in a pub called the Elephant and wheelbarrow where I've been many times and it was brilliant. First up they get you in early and nothing happens they just show loads of old school clips while you have a few cheeky drinks then Libby Kennedy's Band came on to play which was good fun, unfortunately i did not get to meet her but did call out loving words. Then they bring out the stars, first up a fellow who is not in it yet so i was not that bothered then out came Dylan followed by Janell and then the biggest star of them all Dr Karl Kennedy! They come out through the crowd and there are some pretty big cheers, once on stage they speak a bit and answer questions, one of the girls I was there with called Miram went up on stage as it was her birthday and Dr Karl sang happy birthday to her! Once they've done there little bits the music comes on and they go round to mingle so I got to meet all of them. I asked Dylan about shampoo products he uses! Showed Janell a text from my mum saying how she loves the show told bouncer I prefer Greyhounds and gave Dr Karl a kiss on the cheek having told him I was Susan! I was so overcome by the whole excitement so had to have a few more drinks! They then have a few competitions where you try and win prizes like trips down the coast. I got taken on stage with 5 others and told we had to sing the neighbours theme tune, the national anthem or a football song, I was going to do the Neighbours but the fella before me was really good so I sang Vindaloo and really got the crowd going but I only came 2nd, the Irish fella won, always more Irish in the crowd cheering but I had fun! rnGot another few weeks left here in Melbourne before I head up the coast and off to see Lilly Allen next week and the Artic monkeys the following week so some things to look forward to.
