Its been a while, but been busy doing lots of things and not really had much chance of getting on the internet.
I'm now in Cairns and it's pretty hot. I'm working on a farm called Emerald Farm in a place called Marreba, about 1 hour north of Cairns. It grows bananas, mangos and water-melons. I'm working with in the bananas, cutting them down, spraying and driving the most battered 'Ute' in history!
The way everything works is a thing called 'Help X' and what you do is work 24 hours for free and get your food and accommodation for free. Any work over that you get paid, so you spend nothing and as it's in the middle of nowhere, you can't go out! The owners have a massive house on the hill and you can use their swimming pool any time. They also have pool table and tennis courts. The view is amazing and I have a few photos to upload
soon.
The house we all live in is nice and there's a mixture of different nationalities - the Japanese mainly cook and we've had some good food. The work is hard and I think I need a hand spa, it is good using a machete to chop the trees down. The work counts for the season work, so that's also handy and I can make money for doing the extra work and no tax so I've made a bit.
Before I arrived here, I went to Cape Tribulation for an over-nighter and it's like a
scene from 'Lost' - nice. I also went to the Great Barrier Reef and saw a real turtle this time - it was pretty good reef!!
