10th-12th Feb,
I arrived at Cameron Highlands from Penang and on the approach it looked amazing. It's set in the hills as the British set up some stations as it's cooler than on the coast. I stayed at a hostel called Daniel's Lodge that was recommended to me by some girls I'd met in Penang. It had a bad review in the Lonely Planet and when I got there it had a big sign saying f**k the Lonley Planet!! Anyway I was in this big old dorm in the loft, which was rather homely. I walked off to explore lots of Indian restaurants and places where you could have strawberries and cream and cream teas but other than that there is not that much there. In the evening they have a bar at the hostel called the jungle bar where everyone meets up and I met loads of people, open late and a fire going and with guitars being played.
The next day I went off for one of the day trips. It took in the tea plantation, a jungle trek the strawberry farm and the butterfly farm. There were some great views from high up and looked spectacular. On the trek there was a German couple who were in full trekking gear and as I don't have any shoes or trainers I had to do it in flip flops!! I looked a bit silly but as it turned out I was the only one who didn't slip!
That night it was back to the jungle bar for more Bob Marley and Tiger Beer around the fire and everyone got quite merry!!
Next Stop Kuala Lumpa!
