More dancing
After getting up at our now usual hour of 10am we had some breakfast and then went upstairs to do some practice before our lesson this afternoon. There being no one in the TV room we were able to move the table and have ourselves a nice little dancefloor with the fan from the dorm to ourselves without being in the way of people coming in or out of the various rooms. After briefly going through our learned steps we put some music on (our 'Majorca' salsa cd) and spent the next couple of hours dancing to a variety of salsa, practising On1, On2, Cali and solo shines as well as some much missed bachata and kizomba. By the end of this we were hot, sweaty and exhausted and collapsed on the sofa for a few minutes to rest. Meanwhile one of the guests, a latino guy came in, plonked himself on one of the sofas, demanded to know where the table he had just walked past had gone, turned the TV on and promptly went to sleep!! Guessing this was the end of our practise we packed our stuff up and went for a shower then decided we were hungry and made an egg sandwich each whilst we spent the rest of the afternoon on the computer. I should say at this point we are both a bit addicted to some games on the ipod and computer and seem to spend an inordinate amount of time playing them, though theres really nothing else to do in Cali anyway, especially when you dont have any money so we dont feel too guilty!! When 4 o''clock came round we left to walk to Jacqui's and were hot and sticky by the time we got there at 10 to 5. There was some kind of cooking meeting going on upstairs in the dance room so we waited in the cool of the hallway for Jacqui and when she arrived went into a smaller room downstairs for our lesson. Again we covered what we had already done with slight adjustments here and there then Jacqui taught us some more. We attempted a kind of backwards bend dip thing but I dont think I'm quite flexible enough for it and Andy couldnt get his leg high enough for it to work properly so we gave up and did something else. After going through it several more times Andy was taught some more footwork that he could do solo and Jacqui was pleased how well he picked it up. We then went upstairs where they were just packing away from their meeting and once they were gone we were able to go through it all to music as there wasnt a stereo downstairs. Our lesson concluded and we briefly discussed what time to meet tomorrow as Jacqui had invited us to another of her shows, this time with the more professional dance troop we had seen practising at the other studio. It was tomorrow night in the Torres de Cali Hotel and we were to dress up, so we gathered it was something a bit special and thanking her we said goodbye as she dashed into a waiting taxi to rush her to the other studio and we made our way back on foot through the oncoming night. Once back at the hostel we cooked dinner, before relaxing upstairs for the evening watching some episodes of Heroes on the computer.
