Day 10 and unbelievably thoughts are now ever so slightly turning to going home not that I want to even go there yet. This holiday has been an amazing experience and looking at the positives we still have a third of the holiday left to go.
It's a beautiful morning and even at 8.30am it is hot and in the high twenties I would think.
First thoughts are with the missing suitcase, nothing heard from Ryanair yet, and Millie has very little clothing to wear other than what was in the dirty washing bag which was stored in my suitcase and included some of Millie's clothes that's it.
Millie is still OK, and we are looking now at making a claim on the holiday insurance which covers us for up to £2000 of possessions subject of course to the small print of the policy. One of the consequences of what has happened is that Millie can't go swimming as she has no swimming costume to wear.
We have made a few calls to Ryanair and Alghero airport lost and found but are still none the wiser about where the suitcase is, whilst it may not be fair we are laying the blame at the door of Ryanair.
First things first and we need to get a load of groceries from a local shop (although the locals refer to it as a market). 81 Euros spentlater and off we set in our car back to the apartment to unload.
In the meantime we make our first trip to the on site swimming pool and very nice it is too set amongst the apartments of the complex and hills in the background. There is also a bar by the pool selling alcoholic and soft drinks, coffees etc. and snacks.
It is now up into the thirties and jumping in the pool seems like an attractive option, so in we jump although Madalyn had got there first obviously.
The atmosphere here is much quieter than the pool at Lake Garda. There are far less people around just a scattering of young families mainly including a very white looking chap who we guessed may be British just by the way he looked and sure enough he had a distinctive Irish accent. Things seem much more relaxed here and no problem taking a drink with you to the swimming pool area, especially if bought from the poolside bar, with it's friendly bar tender.
A couple of hours spent in the pool was very relaxing especially nice after a very long day yesterday and all the comings and goings regards the missing suitcase of which there is still no news.
After some home made lunch made back at the apartment which is a far more affordable option than buying lunch in the cities where you are looking at a minimum of 35€ for the five of us, we went back to the top up the tan by the pool for an hour or so.
The heat between 1pm & 5pm is very hot and it seems the local shops take a siesta between this time as we found out when we went to visit a couple of local stores in the vain hope that we might be able to find a swimming costume for Millie. Plenty of flippers, goggles and body boards but nobody appears to be in the market for swimming costumes - perhaps unsurprisingly.
We also took the opportunity to look at the local beach which was busy but very picturesque with houses right on the beach looking out to sea.
Dinner tonight is home made and is our staple home made diet of pasta sauce and meat, not very exciting but it's very expensive eating out so eating at the apartment is a good option at times to keep the budget in check.
We now have an update regards the missing suitcase which is still missing, they have informed us that the suitcase has been traced and has had it's own little trip to Bologne, so was out on a totally incorrect flight but at least it's turned up, or rather we have more of a chance of getting it back.
The information we have been given from Ryanair and the airport has been less than impressive and it was only because we phoned Ryanair that we now have this nugget of information.
They tell us that the case will be delivered to us the day after tomorrow. This may be a language issue as they are expecting the case at Alghero by 11pm tonight, so we expect it delivered to us by tomorrow not gig day after.
This whole incident has been very inconvenient and has resulted in several phone calls using our mobiles and for which we will be putting in a claim for amongst other things.
Anyway, it's now early evening and time to chill with a game of cards with the girls and a few shots of Disarano we bought at Alghero duty free which was very cheap at just 16€ for a litre bottle Equivalent to around £12.
Hopefully tomorrow we may see the missing suitcase but I won't hold my breath for now.
One of the curious things about where we are staying is that whilst there is free wifi it only seems to operate within a very small distance of the reception area, as sad as it sounds we have all been down there in the last 24 hours to catch up in such things as news vas Facebook. Even when we arrived very late at night there were a couple of guests sitting there with their tablets making use of the wifi so we are not the only ones.
