A day on the road today that tested our resolve. We had to keep reminding ourselves that it was mid summer in central France as the weather told us it was autumn in England. It was chilly and we got very wet. Even Alan, with his warm blooded constitution and elephant's skin put on a rain jacket. We stopped off for mid morning coffee in medieval Bergerac, it started lashing down and better resembled Bradford in mid winter. We did well to get in our scheduled 70 miles and are well on track to meet Jon and the newly liberated David on our camp site 18 miles south of Tours.
We (I mean Alan) have talked to lots of people on our way north. There are lots of Brits here, those that interest me are the many who have abandoned Blighty and have adopted the French way of life in small rural communities, vive la difference. No photos to upload today I am afraid, a flash to light up a day like today has yet to be invented. AB
Ended up in Perigeuex today. Better day fuelled by last night's Elephant steak. Awful place and the grottiest hotel ever which clearly breaches the trades description act as the "Comfort Hotel". 330 miles behind us and 180 to campsite. Easy really!!! Ouch. Just eating our £12 burger in the Cafe de Paris. It was either that or a kebab and a fight with numerous village idiots near the Hotel. Can't wait for the morning and the road ahead. Never come here!! APL

Liz Great that you're still on track - well done the pair of you, especially in such grotty weather conditions :) After seeing the photo of last nights steak, it's hard to feel sorry for you eating a burger again...
