Today had an interesting start - whilst waiting to be picked up for our tour the hotel owner said that we couldn't stay another night cos he was fully booked! So we had literally 5 mins to run upstairs, chuck everything in our bags and make the room look acceptable - much fun! Thankfully the owner had the decency to look after our bags for the day otherwise i think we might have killed him! It was kind of our own fault tho - it's holy week and thurs/fri are the days that people get off work - live and learn! Despite being made homeless, we went on a fab boat tour of the Islas Ballestas. We got really close to the wildlife - although thankfully not close enough to get pooed on! We saw lots of Boobies (how rude!), Cormerants, Humbolt Penguins, LOADS of Pelicans - common as muck round here! plus Spider crabs and Sealions! Got some relly good pics of the Sealions and got pretty close - the male ones were bloody huge! They weigh something like 250kgs! Anyhow, after an hour or so of touring round the islands we speeded back to shore and then went on a tour of Paracas National Park, which is all desert! We got some great views of the coast and spent some time on the beach, but it wasn't anything spectacular - Nick we suggest just doing the boat trip. We then went back to Pisco and mercifully managed to get in to another hostel - although we were charged way over the odds - 80 soles for one night in a shoe box of a room with shared bath! Nick, check the availabilty of hotels and look out for any public holidays in the Peruvian calendar!
