So, we had another spectacular journey, this time through the snow covered peaks and forests of the lake district. It was also the shortest, only 2hrs!
We got here a couple of hours ago and have found a nice hostel, thanks to a friendly local guy, which has only just re-opened after refurbishment, so we are the only ones in it! We have a good view out to the mountains and the lake that the city is on the shores of, and the room is very comfy and warm, thankfully, as it is bloody cold and windy here! There is loadsa snow around, not in the middle of the city, but around the outskirts there`s several feet of the stuff!
We have just been for dinner, which was very disappointing. We chose the place on account that it looked abit like an English pub, but christ, the food was awful! Sophie`s dinner can only be described as resembling a boiled willy, bits of reconstituted animal, vinegar-soaked boiled cabbage and some watery boiled potatoes, ugh! HORRIBLE!!!! We were also disapionted cos we got excited as there was cider on the drinks list, however, in this land, that means a kind of champagne apparently, rubbish. They also didn`t have any of Sophie`s new favourite, raspberry flavoured beer, which is brewed in El Bolson, so she had a pretty rubbish dinner time! Andy`s steak and chips was alright tho.
So, we are gonna spend three nights here, before moving on to either Neuquen or Malargue, then skiing!!! woohoo! Hopefully we`ll get some sledging in here before we leave, and maybe the odd snowball fight!
NOTE: Dias de Zappato has some of the best mexican food we have ever eaten! not to mention addictive frozen margeritas!!! oh, and bariloche gets the thumbs up on the chocolate shops and the days spent listening to peter, bjorn and john in the internet cafe! :)
