Gone walkabout
Hello All,
Since our last writing we have been very busy. Visited and treked the Great Wall. a 10k trek, 6 hour walk. much of it was between a 1:3 and 1:1 gradient. a good one for the legs. Check the photos you will see rachel was really enjoying it. It got quite precarious. We knew when we left the beaten track as our guide said in broken English, (path) Very Small, do not fall, may not stop!@!??
Also managed to get up for sunrise at 4:50 christ knows how and after the amazing sights was treated a horrid Chinese Breakfast.
A full days and nights travelling took us back to Beijing and then on the Hard Sleeper train to Xi'an. Its not as bad as advertised and BR could learn a thing or two. cheep beer, and reasonably comfy beds but the toilets were something else, the pit of eternal stench did not hold much of an advantage in the odour stakes.
So far in Xi'an have visited the wierdest club you will ever likely to encounter. White men can not Jump, but Chinese men can really not dance. There were a load of chinese pit girls / air stewardess dancing with glo-sticks. I managed to get one somehow and then went onto a pub owned by a very chinese David King?? Good guy let us drink our own vodka, may go back there again tonight. Have spent much of this fine day writing rubbish and arranging photos in the dark in internet cafe so going out before I become a bat. Wish you were here -
PS saw the Terracotta warriors yesterday - velly velly good. Met the chap who actually discovered them in 1974, signed my book. Ebay Here we come!.
