Gone walkabout
Hi All,
I think we last wrote in Xi\'an, Have done loads since. Shanghai, Guilin, Long ji rice terraces, and Hong Kong. (all of these are probably spelt wrong so you will know this is Andy Writing)
Shanghai was wicked, and a touch more western that we had been used to. We then took a 26 hour train out to the country and drunk it dry.
The nice bit was getting out of the sticks, did you know China has 16 of the 20 most polluted cities on earth, interesting eh (I will be able to bore everyone soon with my well travelled drivel shortly).. So the fresh air smelled nice. Me and Rach took a proper chinese cooking class. Needless to say I excelled, but rachel is still here and despite several days stomach cramps after eating her own food has now fully recovered. (only joking she was very good but has shot herself in the foot as she will not be able to use the Cant cook - wont cook excuse when we get home)
The Long Ji rice terraces were cool, lots of little people working very hard for not much rice. But very pretty and took a few good photos i think.
In Hong Kong we left the bosom of our travelling buddies and hit out on our own, but it is easy to navigate and managed to do quite a bit on our last day or two.
Apart from the blatant staring you tend to get here, I got my first open comments concerning my embarrasing Ginger problem. One of the restaurant staff came over tickled my goatie and ruffled my hair stating to our leader in chinese, good looking boy! Thankfully I did not find out what was said until we left - shame it was a short little male waiter..
Signing off.
Andy and Rachel
