After a loooong drive we made it to Kununurra, a beautiful town near the boarder of WA and the NT.
We made our way through the boarder crossing where they check your car and van for fresh fruit and honey etc. We knew about this so we made sure we ate all our fresh stuff the night before. Another couple there didn't know about this and lost quite a lot of their food. whoops!!
We found a caravan park and set up our site over looking a beautiful lake. The sunsets were just amazing over the water!
The park was nice and had a brand new resort style pool and we even enjoyed cocktail and tapas night there one night!
We didn't know what was around this little town so we went for a drive and what did I find??? Not one, but TWO jewellery shops! So we left Charli in the van and headed on down. I could tell Andy was SO very excited about walking into these shops with me...especially when there is a diamond mine near Kununurra.
The first shop was a let down...so we didn't know what to expect from the second. The moment I walked in a fell in love! Diamonds of every size and colour sparkled from behind the glass cabinets. There was heaps of loose diamonds and I could not believe the prices of these things! A tiny Pink diamond for thousands and thousands of dollars...I'm talking $100,000 and more for a teeny tiny thing! wow!! I didn't realise pink diamonds were so expensive! There were also champagne, yellow, brown and of course white diamonds. I tried on so many rings...I was like a kid in a candy store! I was surprised Andy didn't run for the hills...but then I realised that the shop was air-conditioned. :)
Anyway, we also went to the Sandalwood factory which was interesting, but nothing was going to beat those diamonds!!
So we had a nice relaxing few days in Kununurra which I thought was a lovely little town. mmm diamonds...
