North Haven...we love North Haven!
As soon as we pulled up we were welcomed by our neighbours. They all came out of their vans to introduce themselves and have a chat. That welcome really made our arrival so positive! We went through our usual set up and went down the street for dinner and came back to relax.
The next morning we exited our van to streaming sunshine coming down on us! The lovely park managers had put us on a wonderful site that gets the morning sun. I have to say, it's one of the nicest things walking straight out into the warmth!
Again, our neighbours were keen for a chat. A bunch of retired couples come to this same holiday park at the same time every year for 6-8 weeks. It was nice to seem them all together...like no time had passed at all. They all loved Charli (especially the men) and patted her every time they walked past. I was quite funny actually...they would walk over to her, ask her a question and we would answer. For example, Man: "Hello, Charli! Have you been on a walk? Where did you walk to today?" Lisa: "Yes, we went to the beach today." Man: "Oh lovely! Was is windy Charli?" Lisa: "Yes, it was really windy. It's much nicer here in the park." Man: "I agree, well, bye Charli!." Lisa: "See you later!" Andy and I had to laugh!
The park itself was lovely! This might sound strange but the amenities were fabulous! The sites were lovely but I do think the people made it so good. There was only one man who didn't like us. Andy calls him the 'one-armed' man because, well, he only had one arm. He decided that he didn't like us and had a massive go at Andy while he was taking Charli for a walk. Andy was very polite (well, as polite as you can be) and he soon made friends with the one-armed man. The other oldies in the park said he was a 'richard cranium' anyway. (Our neighbour Ken said that so he wouldn't offend me :) ) hahaha
We travelled into Port Macquarie a few times where we had a little shop, a few meals and just a nice walk around. It is a lovely place and I know why my mum loves it so much!!
We did lots of other things like fishing (Andy caught his first fish!), lots of walking on the beach (when Charli got her stitches out) and a drive up the mountain to check out the amazing view! There was a cool caravan up there that sold coffee and lunch etc (Andy thought that was pretty cool. hehe)
Beard update: for those who care...Andy is in his 4th week of growing his beard. I find that it has a few different colours in it, mostly brown and red with flecks of white. It's coming along well with Andy already getting food stuck in it. eww
North Haven is a place that is just polite!! The people were polite everywhere we went! It was nice to go for a walk down the beach, down the street or just through our park and have people say hello and ask how you are!!
We would definately come back here or to Port Macquarie!! yay!

Melissa I just love that caravaning life of chatting to everyone - you all chat about where you have been, are going etc and everyone is friendly. It is so great you have discovered this early, continue having fun chatting with the caravaning crews along the way and give Charlie a pat for me :)
Cawil How does WAYK go when not using sign (i.e. when using a spoken laagnuge)? Do the handsigns stay the same? Do the lists have to change to fit into the laagnuge? Do you have to simplify the grammar? Is the Lunatic Fringe no longer the same?
Michelle I've never been to port Macquarie! But you've definitely Sikhs it for me Liis x
