The next day Julian and Enya said goodbye and Nadine and I decided to go to Kuranda together.
Kuranda is a quaint little town near the Atherton tablelands set on a river in the bush.
We took the bus from Cairns and after arriving and a short cab to the backpackers we stowed our gear away and went for a walk into town.
When we got there Nadine noticed a flyer for a music festival for that afternoon so we decided to go check it out, not just for the music but also for the food it promised, all the stores in town had shut early and we still hadn't had lunch yet!
When we got to the festival we were quite early but we met to German guys and chatted to them for awhile.
The music was great and when the food was FINALY cooked it was tasty.
As the night went on we ran into the German Guys again and when I decided to go home they offered me a lift in their van.
Nadine and the boys went on to a party in the bush we had been invited to and I went to sleep early.
The next day I ran into an Australian girl named Amy who had just come back from Vietnam but used to live in Kuranda.
Amy. Offered to take Nadine and I as well as the two German boys who had come back to join us for breakfast, to a swimming hole half way down the local waterfall.(the photos are under "Kuranda" and there is a video too)
So Amy led us along the railway line and then through the bush to this beautiful lookout halfway down the side of a cliff where a rockpool had formed that the waterfall flowed into and then flowed our again creating another waterfall.
We swam and sunbaked for awhile and took in the amazing view before we headed back to Kuranda.
Nadine and I hung out in Kuranda for a couple of days and really enjoyed ourselves but finally found ourselves back in Cairns again.
More about that in the next post.
