The first thing about Mancora we notice is it really hot and second that there are loads of sandflies (not again).
We're early for check-in so we set up camp by the pool and take in the early morning rays and let the sandflies have their first sniff. I bet they just love fresh meat. Well they weren't disappointed.
There is an inter hostel game of beach volleyball and I'm roped in for a game. Turns out Jay who we met at La Senda Verde is working at the rival hostel. It's great to see Jay again.
We win of course and to celebrate Helena and I have steak at a recommended steakhouse. Its pretty good but I'm told the steak is better still in Argentina (can't wait).
Helena is still not feeling too well and it is left to me to again socialise in the evening. Local lagers and happy hour local gin and tonics get me and Alec on our way.
The room has no a/c just a permanently switched on ceiling fan which is completely ineffectual and so I was quite glad of a skinfull to help sleep that first night.
We're still in rest mode and although there is some surf it is uninspiring and busy and I can't find the motivation. The chance to take a snorkel tour or even a kite surfing lesson doesn't pique our interest much either so we chill out on the beach or by the pool, catching rays and providing comida rapida for the sandflies.
