Miraflores is one of Lima's nicer, safer and more touristy areas. It's easy to see why. Large colonial buildings, clean tree lined streets, casinos and nice up-market restaurants. Fortunately for scum bag travellers like us there are cheap hostels and eateries too.

The hostel is in one of these lovely colonial buildings with super high ceilings and thin high double doorways. Also, and maybe we were thinking about sleep here, the advertised orthopaedic mattresses were amazing.

Unfortunately Helena wasn't feeling too great. Tired, food poisoning, a chesty cough and super comfy mattresses meant it was up to me to socialise and spent two evenings in Lima drinking, local lager, wine and Cuba Libres. Great!

Helena had planned to take a jungle tour from Lima but with inconvenient flight times and not feeling great it was postponed. We took a walk to the coast, not far, and generally just rested and recuperated.

Time was up and we took a bus to the coast hoping for some surf.
