We have spent the last few days in Sucre, a small colonial city, which used to be where most of Bolivia?s Governmental power was based before it was moved to La Paz. The people of Sucre don?t like that very much and over the past week there has been loads of protests about moving the Government power back to Sucre. It seems that every day in Bolivia someone is protesting about something!
The weather has been lovely over the past few days, we are only 2790m above sea level so it has been a nice change to be warm again (although not for long as we are heading up in altitude again tonight!) The sun shines and there is not a cloud in the sky - bliss!
We have been mainly chilling out and exploring the city and eating lots of lovely cheap food! Whoever said the food was rubbish in Bolivia was really mistaken!
Yesterday we went on the Dino Truck to see dinosaur footprints that were found in a cement quarry. There were 4 different species tracks, all heading back and forth from what used to be a lake, many years ago! The site is now becoming a heritage site and they have just built a visitors centre with scale models which were some of the best we have seen. Although the charge us Gringos a small fortune to enter it was worth it!
The sad thing we have found with Bolivia is all the indigenous people who are very poor and begging on the streets, being white tourists they make a bee line for us! What is really heart breaking is the tiny children the parents stick out on the street with little musical instruments!!
Tonight we get a 10 hour bus to Oruro (no toilets on board!!!), spend a day there before heading onto the capital city of La Paz.
Love to all,
