Travelled to Brisbane today (Brissy to the locals). We were a little concerned we would have trouble with the airlines considering all the storm problems they have been having, but as it turned out our flight was only delayed for a little over an hour. First impressions of Brissy were great; friendly people, every thing looked new and clean, all round nice feel. We plan to come back on our way to the Gold Coast.

We travelled for an hour and a half from Brissy to Golden Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Our unit here is very nice, small but comfortable. However, if we had arrived 3 days earlier we would have been here in the midst of Cyclone Oswald. People have been telling us of their adventure, mainly, that they were without power, stuck in their apartments for 3 days with high, high winds and torrential rains coming horizontally off the ocean. It was pretty scary at times because the winds were so great that they were afraid that windows would blow out. As it was, many units were flooded with water forced through the windows and patio doors. Glad we missed all that.
