Hola senores y senoritas, Today we had a really expensive day. Got up at half 6 to get a flight over the Nazca Lines in a tiny little 6 seater plane. The flight lasted for about 30 mins and flew over all the lines, turning really sharply round them so we looked directly at them from either side. The lines looked good although were quite a lot smaller than we both expected and couldnt been seen quite as clearly as the photographs on postcards you see. We also went to the cemetery of Chauchilla, which had 12 open tombs all with pre Inca mummies in. The bodies were wrapped in cotton and sitting in the tombs, mostly with the skull on the top. The tombs were disturbed by grave robbers and so the mummies have now been placed back in the tombs as they might have been for tourists to see. Have booked bus tickets to Arequípa today to go tomorrow night, our first long bus ride (10 - 12 hours) will let you know how it goes 2moz although should be ok as we are in business class!!!!!! and it has a toilet and tv.
