Hey everybody Finally, here is the entry for the day we went to the Ballestas Islands. (thurs) Had to get up really early to get tour bus to them, (left at 7 am). Arrived at the harbour about half an hour later and got on really fast speed boat. It tipped right up and we were sitting at the back so got a bit wet from all the spray as we hit the waves. On the way to the Islands we passed El Candelebro which is a carving in the sand, similar to one of the Nazca Lines, no ono knows what it is or how it got there. A few mins later we arrived at the Islands, as you can see from the pics they were absolutly full of birds. Apparently the islands have the highest concentration of different bird species anywhere in the world. Some of the birds included comorots, penguins, pelicans and Perunvian red ...'s. Also saw hundreds of sea lions. On one beach there must have been about 300 sealions. The boat stopped fairly close to them and you could see some of the babies trying to swim. It was really noisy and echoey, it sounded similar to standing in a really big hall or room frull of people all having different conversations with different voices and at different volumes. After going round the islands and through the arches between them we headed back to the main land. Got bus to the Paracas National Park, visited a small museum there which had info about the park and conservation in it, then visited a rock formation called Le Cathedral, which was impressive but not amazing seemed like a lot of hype over nothing much. After this we went to a small bay called Lagunilla beach and had our second paddle in the Pacific, couldnt resist taking a photos proof. After this we headed back to our hotel in Pisco, managed to bargain down an evening meal in a posh restaurant from S18 each to S10 (2 pounds) each, without even trying or really meaning to. We were walking down the street and the waitress tried to get us to go in to the restaurant we looked at the menu and said we might come back (thinking it was a bit expensive) straight away she said that she could do the exact menu for S10 so we went in, had really nice meal, soup, pasta and a drink.
