Before I started travelling, people told me that when it rained in hot countries it would be a short sharp shower and the the hot weather would dry you almost immediately. To all the lovely people who told me this.... Apparently in Singapore, this isn't the case! Had a failed attempt at getting up early yesterday but I got to Singapore Zoo by lunchtime, at which point the heavens completely opened and continued to flood the area for a good couple of hours!! Being british, of course i was stood there in my shorts and strappy top with absolutely no rain gear... Luckily managed to stay dry (ish) and took cover at the various animal shows, somehow avoiding another Hermione granger lookalike competition!! I was lucky enough to get my first smooch of the trip from a lovely chap, Carlos.. The seal! Had a piccie with a couple of snakes too. All the animals were incredibly trained but it did tug on my heartstrings a bit to see them as a showpiece. The night safari in the evening was brilliant, had a long tram ride amongst the animals and another couple of shows. Unfortunately by 9ish jetlag had taken over and I may have drifted off for a bit whilst on tour....
This morning was yet again a slow start after not being able to sleep through the night. Hopefully flying out to Melbourne tonight won't affect make it even worse! Gorgeous weather today, clear blue skies. Started the day off with a whistle stop tour to little India followed by another trip to the Raffles Hotel, this time for a Singapore Sling in Long bar. Despite the painful price tag and crushed nut shells coating the floor, well worth a visit! The gardens were looking gorgeous too. Next, to the Singapore flyer and 'gardens by the way' - stunning!!! I'm not one to normally appreciate nature on many levels but the whole setting at the bay with the weather and amazing views made it a definite highlight. This afternoon I'm heading down to see china town before jetting off Melbourne this evening, my flights at about 4pm GMT for anyone reading. May not have Internet access for a few days so blogs could be cut short... Will update when I can! Amy x
