Yesterday was such a surreal day - Aurelie and I hired bicycle for 70p and explored the little villages around Vientiane. We ended up outside this really pretty temple and the monks asked us to come inside so we got talking them. They were all so friendly and one guy asked if I would help him with his English pronunciation - anyway one thing led to another and I ended up giving four monks an English lesson for the whole afternoon. They had little exercise books that they complete to teach them grammar and punctuation - I must have spent a good hour explaining the difference between While, White, Wife, Wild and Wide! They were so grateful, they brought me out tea and the best cake in the world (It was so good I went to the market this morning to find some more!).
There's not a great deal to do in Vientiane so Laurianne and I got a night bus to Paksi. We are going to do a home stay in one of the villages nearby. We were so smug when we got on the bus because we had the entire back section to ourselves (a massive bed that's meant for 4 people) Anyway that was short lived because the roads in Laos are horrific, it was so bumpy we both felt sick for the entire 12 hours. I fell asleep stretched out and woke up with some random Laos man sandwiched between us, I was so tired I just rolled over and went back to bed but a few hours later woke up again and he had transformed into two little Laos girls!? All three just decided to sabotage our bed. Clearly anything goes in Laos!
