Friday 3rd July
I'm not sure I slept well. Too warm! Not like with night before when it was a bit cool. Malcolm had open the screen and I see a large black spider climb across the bed. I don't see it again which is worrying. We get up, packed and breakfasted and gone by 6:40.
I'm exhausted and drift as we drive. We reach the turn off to Zion national park. We have to pull over to decide what we are going to do and where to go. We decide on going to Zion national park. Having the new annual pass makes things very easy getting in. There is quite a bit of traffic about. The scenery is amazing and unique. We pass through a 1.1mile tunnel carved into the rock. The car park is full so we have to leave the park and find parking along the road. We catch a shuttle back to the park and catch another shuttle up into the canyon. There is much to see and lots if walking paths. We do a few. We leave about 2:30 local time. Off the Bruce canyon. It's a pretty drive, much greener than Zion. Thankfully we find the last free camping spot and mark it as ours. We set up tent then head out sling the scenic road to see the canyon. It's very different from Zion but still amazing. We see quite a lot of wild life and we try and identify them. Once back we eat some dinner. I'm hoping for a cool night but warm enough to sleep.
