Monday 6th April
We awake and ready ourselves for leaving for horse riding at 8:50am. We have to walk a ways and wait to be collected by the van.
Eventually the van arrives and they have picked up the English couple from the hike. The horse place is close to town and maybe only 10-15 drive which is better than the 2 hours for the river rafting. We pass some ruins on the way. We stop on the side of the road and get out. There is a car and two guides. He delivers us some snacks for the trip. Chips, chocolate and biscuits with a fruit nectar. I am annoyed that coca-cola company is so big over here. Seems nearly every bottled drink is from them. Even water. The road is narrow and we cross to where the horses wait ready. This road appears to be a popular spot for ppl to stop and wash their cars or taxis with drain water. It cracks me up. Our guide asks for our experience level gives a few instructions and off we go. It's much like any other horse trek I've been on. A little slow and boring. We stop at some moon temple ruins. It is very interesting as they reckon it was found pretty much ready for use including hole in the hill for moon light. I'm feeling pretty dead so happy I don't have to walk to far and that we mostly ride the horses. After the ruins we trot a bit and head up a hill to view the city. Jesus' (said H-zues) looses most of his snacks on the way as they bounce out and we don't stop. At the top we enjoy photos and snacks. On our way back the guide tells us of the two breeds of horses the Spanish brought and about the special dancing breed that made for very smooth ride. Malcolm had a dancing horse and it looked so strange until I heard about it.
I got a sore bottom from riding!! Painful to sit for days.
We agree with the English couple to meet for lunch at Jacks, and they are already there when we arrive. There is a short wait as is so very popular. Lunch us amazing and we farewell the English. They offer for us to stay there when we visit.
We walk the street tourist markets with a fellow traveller Analena. She is buying souvenirs for family and friends. She buys lots if items and is good at bargaining. Back at the hotel Leonardo has finally caught us and we choose two paintings.
We go again to jacks for dinner and enjoy a thai curry with veges and rice.
I'm exhausted and go to bed after showering while Malcolm packs his things. I'll pack in the morning.
