Friday 19th June

It's so nice not to be too hot! We have breakfast and relax a while. We walk about the town and check out the cenote in the middle! It's not as nice as the one we went to. We sit in the park and ppl watch. There are a lot of beggars and maimed ppl asking for money, or old ppl selling things. We decide to catch the 12pm bus and go back to the apartment to get our things and book something for cancun. I buy water on the way to the bus station. The bus ride to playa de Carmen doesn't seem 3 hours long! We get our things and walk the few blocks to our new apartment/condo. The owner is an Italian lady who has been here 3 months. We cool down then go looking down the main avenue. Malcolm talks to a few tour guides and eventually decides on a sail/snorkel/lunch thing for sunday. Everything seems to be in US dollars here. It's started! I watch men spray paint little surf boards to sell. We walk to find a ATM or bank to get money out. There are lots of ATMs on the steers but they look dodgy to me. Eventually mal tries one when we can't find a bank, but the charges are huge so we give up and head to the supermarket. There is a bank right by the supermarket and mal gets money out for the normal rate.
I start cooking pasta while mal returns to buy some water.
