We have to get up early in order to get the buses to collect the rental car. Malcolm decides he will go alone as check out is not till 12. I pack and sort my things. The housekeeping knock a few times to see if we are out. There is problems with the bus and mal doesn't make it back till about 11.
We check out and head to the car. It's nice. Malcolm got talked into an upgrade but still very reasonable at about $15 a day plus costs. We head to the hover dam via Walmart for camping supplies. Unfortunately things are not as cheap as we were expecting, but we will try and make do. There is a goodwill and I drop off my now extra clothes. The dam is great, the lake a beautiful colour. The viewing bridge is very windy. The countryside is very bland for the most part, seems so huge. We decide there isn't enough time for the Grand Canyon today and settle for camping in the small settlement outside the national park gates. We see hummingbirds flying about the trees. Later There is thunder and lightening and light rain.
