Seen as we had so much fun last time we hired another campervan. Weve upgraded from wicked so the outside dosnt look as fun but the inside is sooo much better! Still very basic but a lot better!
So today we set off from Cairns and headed for a town in the Rainforest called Kurunda. Whilst there we went to a few markets, and took a little walk through the rainforest to the Barron falls look out which was really nice it was so humid we wanted to dive right in!
From there we stopped off at Trinity Beach, Palm Cove and Ellis beach they were all stunning I think Ellis beach was our favourite as it was so desserted. I dont know how anyone dare get in the water I know stinger season is over but there are signs everywhere warning you about Marine stingers, Crocs and Sharks a bit scary for my liking!
So we set up camp for the night in posh Port Douglas and had a not so posh tea Noodles a backpackers staple diet.

We had a good first night in the van although it was just so humid, you cant keep any doors open as the creepy crawlys like to hitchhike. Talking about doors the idiots who had the van before us thought it would be funny to put the childlock on all the doors so we were stuck in the van, so whilst im having a heart attack heiki managed to reach out and open the door from the outside, phew!
Today we wento for a look around Port Douglas it was very nice and a bit Posh so I felt like a scruff in my $2 (fake) Billabong top from Thailand. It was very rainy and cloudy so we kinda lost the effect of four mile beach but you could still picture yourself laid there with a cocktail in the sunshine.
So before heading further north we stopped at Mosman gorge, a really beautiful swimming whole in the middle of the rainforest it was really pretty and the water was so clear, had it been a bit warmer I might have put more than just my feet in but the rainforest water is so cold!
Then we headed North and crossed the Daintree river on the car ferry, they say to watch out for crocs but we didnt see any! The drive through Daintree was amazing,All throught the rainforest with the Barrier Reef to you right it dosent get much better than that. Our campsite is right on the beach so we will be going for a dip tomorrow!

Weve hada nice day today this morning we were feeling energetic so we decided to go for a jog on cape tribulation beach ( a little bit more picturesque that running round the moor). Then after breakfast we went back to the beach for a spot of sunbathing. I cant belive how much we liked Bondi Beach when we arived I couldnt think of anything worse than being squashed on that beach with all those other people now.
In the afternoon we went to the Dubuji boardwalk I was scared as it was warning us about cassowaries (huge birds over 1m high) and to be careful as they can attack you luckily we didnt see any, and since then ive found out that there are only about 35 left so chances were pretty slim.
After that we went to kulki look out to get a good view of Cape Tribulation. Then we went down onto the beach where Heiki tried and tried to get me a coconut but it just wasnt happening. Tomorrow we are heading back down south near Innisfail to a place called Paronella Park.

The brochure was correct Paronella Park is stunning! It was origionally built by a spanish guy who wanted to build a castle for his wife, it ended up being two castels a water fall a fountain and thousands of trees. About 100 years later two floods and a cyclone its now run by a couple who conduct tours and tell the story of how the park came about.
We went on three tours the first was a bush tucker tour where teo indiginous girls told us there story of how they wouls use plants and animals to survive in the Rainforest it was really interesting and resulted in Heiki eating an ants bum!yuk! Aparently it tasted like lemon and lime but I didnt fancy it.
The next tour was the darkness falls tour which was beautiful the water fall looked amazing lit up as did the castle and the fountains.
That night we stayed in the onsite caravan park and the next morning we did 'the dream continues tour' this took us all around the park throught the old ballroom which the cyclone just swallowed up, then onto my favourite bit which was Kauri avenue which was full of huge Kauri Pines which were hundreds of feet in the air and so straight. Last but not least we went to feed the cutle little turtlesthe whole family came to have a nosey at us.
Unfortunatly we had to take the van back that afternoon and once again we were very sad to say goodbye, we wont ever be able to afford a house so I think well just buy a camper and live in that he he!
