Well it has been a while since my last blog but as we have been busy working and saving and we moved out to a place with no wifi, I haven't had the chance to post.
We last spoke just after Christmas and Ed and I were in desperate need to move out and have our own space. We said farewell to our friends and committed to one another it was now time to work hard and save!!
Starting from the 16th of January- HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGS!! I will start to spiel out the antics we have got up to. Apologies in advance for the lengthiness of this blog.
I had the day off and spent most of it apartment hunting as we really would like our own space. I also went and purchased ingredients for dinner as I offered to cook tonight. I made chicken wrapped in prosciutto ham, veggies and new potatoes it wasn't that great but as I'm no master chef it was easy for me to put together haha!! They appreciated the meal and Ed and I spent the evening in our room planning our next steps and financial situation. I informed him on all the apartments I have arranged viewings for. It will be our first place together and we are excited to become more independent again!!
The next day I worked at Chatswood again which is an hours commute, rushed off my feet all day I was excited to meet Beth back at Bondi for a quick dinner and a spontaneous night out, wahoo!! We went out to scaries a travellers night out hot spot and I had a good night having a laugh with my best friend :D of course it was a late night enjoying one to many!!
On the 18th I got an early bus home and woke Ed up to head to rosé bay for an apartment viewing I had arranged. We took a stroll down to the bay which is a 15 minute walk from Dec and Marnies. The apartment is lovely and the couple are from Kettering England and have travelled similarly to Ed and I so we instantly hit it off. Rent was significantly lower than others places we have looked at online and therefore on our walk home decided it was the one and wanted to let them know ASAP before their next viewing. Once home I showered and got ready for work, a long tiring day of selling whilst Beth and Ed relaxed on the beach!! I got home and had dinner with them both and enjoyed watching a film together which was ideal for all three of us with a hangover.
Another day at Chatswood on the 19th and as I made target for 3 days in a row I have been rewarded $100 extra in my pay this week. Wahoo!!! We enjoyed a yummy roast before falling asleep early as we had had lack sleep this weekend.
The next few days we both spent working very boring. In the evenings we spend time together planning our future travels both up the coast and New Zealand. We have set budgets for each country and a bucket list we want to see/do, it will be difficult to be strict with money but we want to make the most of our worldwide adventure.
My boss took me out for drinks one night this week to thank me for the work I had filled in on at Chatswood as I had actually applied for the job at Bondi Junction. Another evening Ed and I went to Beth's hostel for dinner as she had successfully got a job at the same call centre as Ed. We enjoyed a veggie stir fry yum yum. Cooking in the hostel kitchen made me remember and appreciate our time we have spent in a clean home.
On the 24th I spent the day getting ingredients for our farewell and thank you dinner for Dec and Marnie. We prepared and made fajitas yum yum and I went down to Bondi and brought a tub of gelato from Messimas famous gelato bar we love which was refreshing after our meal. I also got the guys flowers and a thank you card from Ed and I to show our appreciation of their generosity!
On Saturday the 25th Ed met me after work and we headed to a burger bar to celebrate moving out and we still hadn't treated one another for Christmas. We enjoyed our yummy dinner it was a good day, I also found $10 on my break to which contributed to dinner :)!
After work on the 26th I headed to the city to meet friends to celebrate Australia Day. We met in Hyde park with our bags of goon and Australian memorabilia. We smashed copious amounts of wine(goon) and an Australian flag chocolate cake yum yum haha and headed to darling harbour to watch the firework display! We ended up at a foam party and it was a very good night had by all haha!!
On Australia Day- 27th January we did what we had looked forward to do for months now and moved to our Art Deco swanky apartment in Rose Bay just a stones throw from the notorious Bondi beach. Dec and Marnie helped us move everything over and we spent all of an hour unpacking haha!
Our friend Bonnie arrived before lunch to take us to Palm Beach where the famous home and away series is set. The beach is meant to be one of the best in Sydney and a must visit so of course we had to go, hangover or no hangover haha!!
We got there had a swim, picnic and a chill out in the sun it was a glorious day. Bonnie kindly dropped us home for dinner time and we headed to Coles to do our first weekly shop which was fun planning our meals!!
Another boring week at work for the both of us with the odd night out for drinks with my boss. On my day off I spent the day at Rosé bay which is gorgeous as you have the perfect view of the harbour bridge whilst you have a dip, however you just have to be careful as the waters have a few jellies to look out for. On my trip to Aldi this week I also had my bag slashed which shocked me they were looking for my purse little did they know it had just my smelly trainers in it and my card was in my phone case, I just have to be careful in the future!!
One evening I ran to edgecliff train station which is 3.5km away to meet and surprise Ed after work :). Another day I wanted to see how far Beth and I live apart so ran all the way to kings cross which took 35 minutes which impressed me!! I have a new obsession for biggest loser out here and watch it every night haha. Also on my day off I visited a lovely beach we hadn't been before known as Red leaf beach which isn't far from us with a jetty and platoons in the water to sunbathe on can't wait to bring Ed and Beth along.
It is now February and it shall be a very boring month as we are trying our best to save money at every opportunity to ensure we can take a good sum away with us.
We have started to have one evening a week dinner with Beth. This week Ed made a red Thai curry which was very yummy! We enjoyed some wine chocies and a film relaxing which is cheaper than a night out and just as fun.
On Sunday the 2nd we went to Dec and Marnies for a yummy spag bowl and a skype home which was nice. My straighteners have arrived back home which is so funny they had a world wide trip without me haha!!
On the 4th of February I had to travel out of the city for my Myer till training which is a little extreme but the two day course was rather fun and I made a couple of friends from the Bondi store which one was lovey enough to take me home and take me the next day :) how lovely. I work for Leona Edmiston but as we trade within Myer I have to be trained on their tills and comply with their regulations etc.
The manager at Chatswood has quit unexpectedly and therefore for the next 3 weeks I have been asked to fill in over there as acting manager which is a lot of responsibility but I really enjoyed it.
On the 9th of February Leona held a pop up sale in Sydney which was really fun!! Ladies love the brand and spend far too much but I can't complain as it looks great on my figures haha!! I also tried an Anzac cookie this weekend which is an Australian/newzealand tradition almost like a shortbread!! Quite yummy!!
I had a day off on the 10th and a friend from home that I worked alongside in River Island happened to be in Sydney for a couple of days so we met and had a catch up which was lovely at the opera bar!! After I met Beth and her hostel friend for dinner before we headed to our favourite bar the soda factory to watch the goonies!!
As we are now getting into autumn and winter here in Australia we have experienced a few crazy electrical storms which are exciting and pretty awesome to watch. On the 14th of February Ed kindly got me a rosé bless him and I had made him a card haha!! We enjoyed a breakfast together before we both had to head off to work :(!! I found out I have been promoted for my hard work at Chatswood to Bondi stores assistant manager which of course is great especially for my CV but as I aim to leave on the 24th of March I feel extremely guilty I will have to let them down!!
To celebrate valentines day we cooked an amazing steak dinner with wine and chocolates and afters enjoyed making a lemon cheesecake together for Marnies birthday. We visited the famous paddy market on the 16th of February which is in china town filled with fruit and veg which we stocked up on for cheap!!
We went to Dec and Marnies for dinner this week again which was lovely and a great catch up before they head on holiday for 2 weeks!! They enjoyed the cheesecake and gave us some chocolate cake to take home with us.
On my day off I did what I always do and cleaned the house top to bottom before doing all of our washing!! I met some work girls for a drink at a bar in double bay which isn't far but as it was a very hot day I felt so dehydrated I can't drink during the day out here!! I also sorted through all of our stuff and chucked away a lot in prep for when we move on and sorted out a package to send a few bits home.
After many boring days working and saving Beth and I went for a night out on the 21st of February we celebrated her brand new job and had a great night out with her new hostel friends. Ed also went out with his friends in the city too and had shock a very boozy night haha standard!!
On the 23rd of February we had been invited by Ed's friend to go with him and his girlfriend on a road trip to the blue mountains. It was such a fun day out for our 5 and a half year anniversary! It was a 2 hour drive to the mountains where we trekked through waterfalls and admired the amazing views it was fantastic and didn't cost a penny as they refused for us to pay as they were going already!!
On the 24th a Monday I spent the day with Beth at the beach sunbathing which was lovely whilst Ed worked and after got ready and met him to go to an intimate Biffy Clyro gig which was really fun!! We had a brilliant night and were so tired when we finally got home at 1am zzzz!!
My last week at Chatswood this week of which was good and sad to be leaving I've loved being my own boss and doing things my way will be hard to go back to Bondi. I had made some lovely friends and they had chipped together to buy a big tub of pink chocolate heart smarties which was lovely of them :)!
On Friday night Ed went out so Shane our housemate and I walked to the end of the bay and watched the sunset which we enjoyed amazing views it was incredible!!
It is now March I cannot believe it which means we have been travelling now for 6 months, how time has flown hey!! The first of March is Mardis Gras in Sydney which is a gay pride festival. The weather was bad unfortunately so Ed and I decided to watch the parade on the telly haha and watch a film and chill out :) instead of standing in the rain. The next day was my day off and I visited the famous Sydney fish markets before meeting Beth for another day of relaxing and chilling watching the telly as the weather has been so miserable!!
Being back at the Bondi store isn't too bad I suppose and I have fun with manager Laura closing sales!! I had the job to tell management I am actually leaving this week and I have struggled so hard to find an excuse as I feel so guilty letting them down. So the easiest thing was to blame it on Ed haha!! They didn't take the news well and are sad I am leaving!! :(
We enjoyed pancakes on the eve of shove Tuesday which our house mate is rather good at cooking up!! Aussies don't celebrate it so I taught my friends a thing or two and told them to spread the word!!
On Wednesday the 5th Beth Ed and I went for drinks to say farewell to a friend we had made which was a good night and ended well with a yummy pie face haha!!
We both spent the next day a little worse for wear. Out friend Bonnie came round and we watched the amazing sunset at Rosé Bay with some gorgeous fish and chips yum yum!! We came back for when Ed got back from work and caught up eating chocolate together!! I spent my other day off this week at peterpans travellers shop planning our exact next stops and I booked our bus and hostel for our first stop-Byron Bay!! I asked about prices for tours etc we want to do so we can budget!!
We finally got internet on the 8th which is great as data runs out so quickly on our phones here. Ed met me after work and we headed to North Sydney to go to an outdoor cinema to see wolf of Wall Street it was so good. We watched the sunset and the stars come out and then saw an incredible shooting star whilst snuggled up in a blanket on the cities oval. We even indulged in a crust pizza after I found $20 on the floor waheyyyy haha!!
On sunday I skyped home to say happy birthday to Dad as he is away :( and then had another boring week of work!!
On the 13th of March my day off I skyped nanny Copeman which was lovely -missing you nanny!! Ed had a skype home mid week too which it was lovely to see you guys too :)!!
I went and met a travelling friend that I made in India which was fun at Bondi beach for an iced coffee :) and in the evening met other travelling friends to say farewell at the cool bar at double bay called the sheaf!!
Today is the 14th of March and I am up early to run to red leaf beach to meet Beth for a morning swim the weathers gorgeous so very excited to cool down in the water after my run!! Ed of course is still tucked up in bed snoring!!
Sorry again it has been so long posts will hopefully begin to be more frequent again! We only have a week and a half until we leave Sydney which we will be a little sad about but also happy to start our next fun adventure!! Busy fun packed time left in the city saying farewell to friends and eating good food before we are back on the travellers diet of pasta and tin tomatoes yum yum haha!!
Love to all of you and we miss you all speak to you as soon as we can!!
We hope the weather stays good back home for you guys!!
Ed and Amy
