The whole experience of Varanasi was incredible, how these people dedicate their life to their religion and bath in the sacred water everyday. Especially as the water has no oxygen in it and nothing lives in it which is a sign of how dirty the water really is.
The markets were amazing and I have purchased some lovely goodies and even a Christmas present which we walked an hour to get as we had read about a shop on trip advisor and had to visit. As we were walking back a heard of bulls ran us off the street which was so funny!! As we are foreign the locals keep offering us drugs and its hard to shake them off so our walk back was a little frustrating. We also witnessed a jeep taking a body to be cremated the family were piled in the car with the body laying on top of them.
Dinner was lovely on the rooftop however a member of the group complained he didn't feel right and as he got up to leave the table he fainted. Dehydration can hit you so quick here we have both been extremely careful!! Ready to cross the boarder we had to have a passport photo done which is awful of us both haha and was taken in a shack blacked out room.....interesting. Our leader constantly repeats... Embrace the bizarre!!
The 11th was a very long day, we travelled by rickshaw to the station and then train for nearly 6 hours and then travelled by car for around 5 hours. We managed to cross the boarder successfully which again was a shack and a sign to show we had reached Nepal and to put our clocks forward a further 15 minutes. As we travelled through small villages and towns people rarely see white people so stared more than ever before. The jeep had 9 of us in the car, no seatbelts and four of us in a boat that's made for two!! On the way we saw two dogs that had been run over which made me really sad but its the way of life out here!!
We made it to the new hotel which was nice with a pool and casino which after a shower we explored. I was winning and lost all my money but ed managed to double his and cash it in I think I got greedy!!
Another member of the group has been suffering with a swollen ankle for a few days so our leader took her to the hospital which she said was horrific!! She has got gout from eating the rich food :( the hospital had no door and she said people lay there screaming and suffering with holes in their limbs from poor health and safety at work! Blood everywhere and dirty equipment.
Dinner was again gorgeous and we all dared ed to eat a red chilli which blew his brains haha!! Gigi a good friend I have made is leaving tomorrow morning but will meet us again on our last day, I will miss her lots we have spent a lot of time together.
We awoke and headed to the birth place of Buddha which was so tranquil and quiet we enjoyed looking around and went to a lake with wild turtles and massive cat fish was gorgeous. We headed back to the hotel packed and had some lunch and got in the jeep ready for a 5 hour journey to chitwan this is the bit I am most looking forward too!!
