We set off on the 8 hour bus journey to Kathmandu. We was not excited especially as we enjoyed Chitwan and Pokhara so much it's fresh air and wildlife was an amazing change to city life. The journey was long winded and hot but the views were amazing as we drove through mountains.
We finally arrived where the group went to the hotel unloaded our things and headed out to the markets which were sweet but once again city life was busy with its bustling streets and dirty alleyways with shops chopping up animals. This city is one of the most polluted cities in the world and many people are wearing face masks, it also has a record for the most popular injury of run over feet so walking around you have to be very careful people don't like to stop.
We headed for our last dinner which was emotional we decorated a plaque to hang on the restaurant ceiling with our best bits. I hate saying goodbyes :( CP our CEO told us a beautiful poem which blew me away:
Sometimes in life we feel so blue, but someone somwhere is not happy as you.
Somewhere far at the border when a soldier sleeps, missing his loved ones he silently weeps.
Somewhere a mother painfully sighs because, her new born baby didn't open her eyes.
Somewhere a poor dad silently cries, when he sees his son begging for a bowl of rice.
Somewhere in an orphanage a little girl is sad, when she misses her mum and dad.
So at times a reason to smile you may not have any, say to yourself that you are happier than many.
Because life is beautiful and its not always blue, and someone somewhere is not as happy as you!!
We sat and laughed and enjoyed each others company for the last time before walking back to our hotel. Where a few of us stayed up drinking before heading to bed.
The 17th everyone else's departure day :( so sad to say good bye!! CP met me down in the lobby where he read my palm as he has promised the whole trip but we keep forgetting as he can't before sunrise or after sunset. He read that my husband shall be handsome and loyal and we shall live happy together with two baby boys. He commented on how long my luck line was and then went on to say how my thumb is very stiff symbolising my firm choices in life as I am not easily persuaded. He then finished by adding that to get what I want I will have to work hard but all will be worth it as I will have a long happy life.
We showered packed and went to our new hostel which is cool we have separate rooms but well survive without each other for two nights. GiGi is with us one more night. So GiGi ed me and Andrew went out for lunch at a cool restaurant where we sat cross legged I had spinach pie which was delicious yum!! We then walked Andrew back to the hotel and said our goodbyes :( we then chilled at the hostel for the rest of the day chatting to people and catching up with things we needed to do. Went for another good dinner but I've lost my appetite. On the way back we saw young boys below 15 sniffing glue to suppress their appetite as they as so hungry, begging for biscuits it was a very sad sight!!
Our last day in Kathmandu. Last nights sleep was good in the girls dorm. I awoke and had a cold shower and chilled out on the roof on the cushions eating my muesli. Ed GiGi and me headed for a wander and got few things printed we needed and went to a wifi cafe to get our fix!! Me and ed plan to chill and book our Bangkok hostel and plan out what to do for the next few days. Next time I write we shall be in Bangkok.
I said bye to Gigi for another 6 weeks until we see each other again in Melbourne!! We are sad India and Nepal are over but excited to start our next adventure!!
