2nd blog from Josh.
We wanted a quieter day today and started with another Starbucks breakfast. We went to book the coach back to Singapore, then walked towards the bird park. This took us past the national Mosque which was covered in beautiful patterns and into a quieter part of town which was a nice change after the hectic, noisy bits of the city we'd walked through yesterday.
The bird park had a few huge aviaries where the birds were 'free' to fly around. There were lots of egrets and huge, blue pigeons from Australia which were funky. There were also lots if peacocks of various levels of splendour, it's surprising how well camouflaged a large blue and green bird can be. We watched a bird show with clever parrots which were all given daft names by the presenter and then on the way out we saw a large lizard and monkeys, which had climbed in through the netting. We saw the monkeys again after we left, which provided a nice photo opportunity.
We went to a yummy Chinese / Malaysian restaurant for tea. We shared beef rendang, fried rice, some sort of crispy fried chicken and coconut rice that was coloured blue and very very tasty. Afterwards I bought 3 red fruits with dangly bits off them. I've no idea what type of fruit they were but I liked them but Anna was less keen.
Anna then successfully tried haggling and got a real, genuine, fake 'Lacoste' dress from the Petaling Street market and we headed back to the hotel.
