AMELIA AND LORRAINE ON TOUR
Well here we are in beautiful Thailand and it really is just like the pictures. We are on Kon Phi Phi at the moment, one of the islands that was pretty much wiped out by the tsunami. Everything has been rebuilt but thre is still some mess down on the beach and further into the villages. Today we met a local who was here when it happened and told us his experince of it. He was asleep when it came and woken by his friend and shouts to run, when he stepped outside he could see the 10 feet wave headed towards them, he said he will never forget the noise. He lost his house and the place where he worked, his house has still not been rebuilt so he sleeps outside the mosque. He was given a small amount of money fro the government but shared it with people who received nothing, as there house was not recorded and had no paperwork. It seems that a lot of the money that was collected has not reached the people who need it and the only hope for them is the tourists that have finally started to return. Its very humbling to be here and you simply cant imagine what one of the most beautiful places on earth must have looked like 8 months ago.
Tomorrow we're going on 2 dives, one to a car ferry wreck that crashed in 1997, it will be our first wreck so we're excited about that. We leave th day after and head to Ko Phagnan for the famous full moon party, hopefully we'll survive that and head to Ko Tao after that!
Thanks for reading ! xx
