AMELIA AND LORRAINE ON TOUR
Hello from Perhentian Besar! Lovely Malaysia.
Well here we are stranded on a beautiful Island surrounded by lush forrest and stunning water. Unfortunately romantic for our purpose here we manage to enjoy ourselves. After a BUMPY sleeper (lack of sleep) train from Singapore, we then travel by taxi 1 hour and then finally by boat taxi to the Island. Worried after reading the Islands have a shortage of alcohol we are comforted by sighting a cocktail list which we later enjoy toasting our Open Water Diver Certification!
The first day we rest, the second we manage to get a bit rosey from the sun despite all our sun worshiping practise and use of high SPF!
After a little persuading and not wanting to miss out Amelia convinces Lorraine to take on the Open Water Diver Challenge! Four days later, a few bellies of sea water, daily catwalk shows in our stunning wetsuits and a fair bit of homework -yes homework! Yes we pass! Yey us! After the first day I'd say we became quite relaxed and found ourselves to be quite the comedians under water. Our dive Instructor sebastian, a very patient guy thankfully (who knows 7 languages!) called us, his students his 'Charlie's Angels', our initial group being us lovely ladies and lovely Janet from Singapore, very polite of him!
Our final day (sadly) on the Island and we manage to squeeze in our first certified dive! We visit the Tokong Laut dive site, reputedley one of the three best sites Malaysia. Sebastians brother Sylvester keeps un entertained by singing on route to the site. We can now dive upto 18metres but think we go even a little deeper! Our group is full of pro's with cool suits and technical camera equipment, but we are there raring to go with our kodak disposable! A little nervous but excited it takes us a while to sink down, but yey we see tonnes of fish, sting rays and even a SHARK, it was small and hiding in rocks but we stlll saw it!
After a mad panic to shower and pack wewave our new dive buds a fairwell, board the 12pm boat back to the mainland then back to Tanah Merah and a lond wait for our next bumpy sleeper train to KL.
