AMELIA AND LORRAINE ON TOUR
Hello frm crazy Bangkok!
We've been here for a few days now and although I see why many people hate it we actually like it here. Its very polluted, noisy, smelly and everyone's trying to rip us off but it does have a bit of charm, and of course the shopping is something else! Its a great opportunity for us to stock up on baggy fisherman pants, tie-dye and general backpacker accessories!
We had an amazing time seeing the islands in Southern Thailand. After 4 days on Phi Phi we went to Ko Phagnan for 3 nights and did the full moon party which was an amazing experince. There may be some pictures appearing soon of us covered in UV body paint (fully clothed!) - but only if we feel like humiliating ourselves!
After 3 days of partying we headed to Ko Tao bumping into 2 english guys we met in New Zealand at the port. Ko Tao was the perfect place for us to relax and catch up on some sleep, it was a beatiful island and we managed to do some dives and our first night dive. Amelia had picked up an ear infection but did them anyway! We saw huge barracuda hunting at night, some over 2 metres long! Also hired our first mopeds, a real experience for Lorraine! Luckily no accidents so we felt confident enough to get them on Ko Samui too! There we had them for 2 days and zipped all over the island on them, we even took oursleves out for the night on one with Lorraine hanging nervously on the back of Amelia's. There were a few hair raising moments but we made it once again, and at 5am in the morning! (sorry Mums!)
Did the Big Buddha on Samui, a large seated golden buddha. They are rebuilding part of it at the moment so we got to write our names on bricks that will be placed inside the buddha. We met some very cheeky monks and ended up correcting one's english vocabulary homework!
After an overnight bus which far exceeed our expectations, 2 films, big blankets and seats that reclined almost to horizontal position, we arrived in Bangkok. Despite all previous advice we got in a tuk tuk straight away but at 6am we were caught off guard! We couldn't check into our hotel so we went to Lumphini Park to watch the morning Tai Chi and exercise classes! It was very entertaining to see lots of OAPs doing their stretches and dancing around the park!
Since then we've done the Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha, Reclining Buddha, Jim Thompson's House (famous American Silk enterpeneur), Chinatown and been up and down the Khao San Road about 10 times! We were hoping to go to Chaing Mai tomorrow but there's been terrible flooding there and they're still getting very heavy rain so we might not go.
Only a week and we'll be flying into Dubai, ready for our African adventure. Time really is whizzing by now and we know we'll be home before we know it. Thankfully though we are looking forward to it - and especially to boring you all with our pictures and tales!!!
Lots of love to you all. xxxxx
