Last day in Vienna!
I'm pleased to tell you that we actually did something today. The rain has calmed down a bit to a light drizzle, so we can cope with that.
We visited to Hofburg Palace today, we is one if the largess palaces in the world. its almost a mini city insude a city.
A family named to Habsburgs lived their for over 400 years, and they were incredibly wealthy. One of the weird things is that they wanted to keep the Habsburg blood line very exclusive, which meant almost everyone marrying one of their relatives - grim I know.
Anyway everyone in Vienna adored them, so now sone of the palace is used as a museum to the family, some parts are private apartments, one part is used by the government, and one for the Spanish riding school.
It was impressive inside, and you can walk round the family's old quarters. It was all very grand, with lots if silver and gold.
We got lunch then, and Ben had the local delicacy of schnitzel, which is this fried veal meat, that is larger than your head. Literally massive. Needless to say Ben enjoyed it!
We couldn't leave vienna without sampling Viennese cake and coffee. We decided to share two of their most famous cakes; apple strudel and sachertorte (which is a chocolate cake which an orangey filling), they were both gorgeous!
Also... I finally had a cup of tea!! Ahh it was so good.
Time pack now, which is also the death if me.
