Arrived in grunau for a two night stay. This place us described as a home away from home and first impressions clarified that.
It's a small town in the countryside and mountains in Austria. The town has only one shop which closes midday for a siesta, and everyone in town knows each other, so you get an idea of how small it is.
We stayed at a hostel called 'the treehouse' which is a small lodge with only a few rooms. A guy named gerhard and his wife and children run the place, and they do such a good job.
The place has an old fashioned homely feel, they even have REAL keys for the doors, instead if the modernised swipe cards. Such a novelty.
Every night dinner is served at half six and is a three course meal that gerhards wife cooks. We all had salad to start, then everyone had steak, veges, and chips for the main, (I had spinach pancakes made for me, as they make sure to cater for everyone), chocolate cake was for dessert. It was yummy.
In the afternoon we hired bikes and ride the 6k into town. We went to the one cafe, and I had a cup of tea, but it was posh tea with real tea leaves, so that threw me a bit.
Going to bed in a bit. Currently sat in the lounge chatting with this couple, not going to even try and remember their names (sounds bad but I've had so many to learn on this trip). Anyway they are like us just four years ahead aha.
This place is so relaxing. Plus I've made friends with one of the cats that lives here.
