First day in Vienna is over, and it's not been particularly great, due to the torrential rain, but alas there are still stories to tell....
Vienna is a beautiful city, but we felt very out of place as everything is so posh. The shopping streets are lined with brand names, Chanel, Tiffany, Versace, Rolex, Hermes, Chloe, etc. you could definitely spend a lot if money here.
Our hostel is very posh too, but that may have something to do with the fact it was only built last year.
On the first night we got here, we heard about the 30th Danube island fest, which as you may have guessed is a music festival held on an island in the middle of the Danube river.
It was amazing! And even better it was free! The whole festival was massive, it took almost an hour to walk to the main stage at the very back.
We were having a great time until we drunkenly and regrettably decided it would be a good idea to go on this fairground ride. It was one that you sat in a circle with everyone else and it spins and jerks you round. There were no bars, belts or any safety measures.
Hence we came out if the ride, scared for our lives having been thrown from the seat, dizzy and disorientated. Ben managed to acquire a large cut down his arm, and myself ten bruises. It was lethal.
At the time we found it hilarious though, it wasn't until the morning that we felt the pain and realised it wasn't quite so funny haha.
It was in the way back from the festival when the rain started, is we got soaking wet.
This morning the rain still hadn't stopped. So we stopped off at aldi (yes there is an aldi here, we were very excited) made some lunch and pondered on what to do.
In the end we just stayed at the hostel all day and recovered. The rain got heavier and we had no coats or umbrellas, so a chilling day was in order.
