21/7/13 Comic Con
Today was one of the best experiences of this America trip and I haven't even gotten past the first leg! COMIC CONVENTION! This place is a nerdy dream come true for me. Even though I didn't get to see/meet anyone famous, Fame followed me around like a fat American kid follows the Big yellow Mc Donald's sign. Let me explain, I dressed up as a comic book character named Zatana. Many nerd fans recognised me and wanted my picture! I felt like a star! I Had one young girl sneak up behind me, tap on my shoulder with an embarrassed look to nervously ask for a picture with me. I tell you one thing I was flattered, because the costume took one hour the day before to throw together. We could only make it to the Con on the Sunday so everything was winding down, but in no way had it finished. There were stands upon stands of Comic books, merchandise, books, posters, photos, paintings, exhibitions and of course interactive games! I'd like to say it was exactly what I thought it would be but it wasn't. At one stage I found myself wondering "Where are the nerds at??" Don't get me wrong at least half the folk there were apart of the weird and wonderful crowd but I thought there would be many more.. I think nerdism has become to mainstream! Barely anyone dressed up and i thought it was a real shame. Although I reiterate I did go on the wind down Sunday so maybe I just missed out and need to go back next year..... After Phil and I finished up at the Con we made our way back to LA, and It took us a ridiculous amount of time. The traffic was atrocious a two hour drive took us three and a half! Needless to say when I got home I was so exhausted that I just fell straight into a deep slumber without much trouble at all.
