As soon as we left the coast, the temperatures and humidity soared (especially at night) and the flies and mozzies increased. However, we were lucky that, aside from really impressive nightly storms, the cyclone season in NW Australia did not really affect us. After a long drive day up to Karijini NP, we spent the next day taking in all the main sights, the spectacular gorges and waterfalls. We took a couple of walks down into the gorges, although were slightly disappointed that the water was a bit to shallow and warm to cool off in! There were also lots of great lookouts over the gorges. When we reached the east side of the park, we found a few more walks to some nice cool pools with small waterfalls flowing into them - great for relaxing after a day of lots of walking! Unfortunately the walk back up and out of the gorge warmed us right up again! Due to the heat we decided to keep moving in the hope that once we were back on the coast it would cool down again, so began the drive to Broome that evening, before stopping on the side of the road for the night.
