The island where "The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio was filmed was a 2 hour ferry ride from Phuket Port (a short taxi from our hostel once we found out where it was!). We arrived to a scrum of hostel owners all wanting us to stay with them and despite there being no vehicles on the island it still seemed to be pretty chaotic with people everywhere! We found somewhere to stay and then hit the beach. More idyllic turquoise waters and white sands. We took a longtail boat ride out to the smaller islands and did some snorkelling and admiring of dramatic scenery. Not quite so many photos as we wanted as my cameras waterproofness finally gave in! On the way back we did a cliff jump. After scaling the cliff in only flip flops it was a bit of a mission but was worth the adrenalin rush. Having said that the more freefall I do the more I dislike it so the planned skydive in New Zealand should be interesting!! Due to the crowdedness and expensiveness of the island we decided to move onto the next Island after one night.
