Our final day in Saigon was hot and humid - just like every other day. We were doing the city tour visiting the Presidential Palace and the Remnants of War Museum.
The Palace was recognisable as the place where the North Vietnamese tank was driven through the gates of the Palace indicating the Fall of Saigon. The tank commander ran to the 4th floor to raise the North Vietnamese flag on the rooftop.
We also visited the Notre Dame cathedral (similar design to the one in Paris but nowhere near as majestic). Then the French style Post Office.
The War Remnants Museum was very sobering showing photographs and stories of the Vietnam War (with America) and the awful effects of Agent Orange on the population with horrendous birth defects from the defolient that were still occurring 25 years later.
After some time in the markets we enjoyed another Vietnamese coffee before heading home to pack for an early start the next morning when we fly to Hoi An in the central part of Vietnam.
