I met Emma, Charlotte, Jan and Kaitlyn in the hotel lobby to go to the Manga Museum. We caught one of the local buses, which was very easy to work out. We entered the museum excited about what we were going to see but after walking through it, it seemed to be more of a library than a museum, but it was still interesting to see. The walls were lined with Manga books and there was one section, which was like what you'd expect at a museum. It showed you some of the first Manga drawings and cartoons and explained the history of Manga. The drawings we saw were amazing! We were hoping to see some Manga costumes but no such luck.
There was a really cool shop at the museum of all the different Manga characters but I couldn't decided on what I wanted to buy so I left with nothing. We then walked to a café and got something to eat for lunch, then wondered through the city for a bit before getting a bus back to the hotel for a bit of rest as it was our groups last dinner tonight.
I met the group at reception at 6.30pm, and then we walked over to Kyoto train station and got the escalators to the top to check out the view of Kyoto. The station was also decorated with Christmas trees and lights and other decorations, which for a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas I found it kind of weird, but it was nice to look at seeing as I wasn't going to be home for Christmas.
We then wondered through the station and came across an area where they had a white gazebo set up with white fairy lights all over it, so as this was our last night we had a few group photos together, basically wasting time until our reservation at the restaurant. This station was huge so there was lots to see and do whilst waiting to go and eat.
When it was finally time to go eat we made our way to the restaurant. This restaurant was really nice and really busy. All the meals were really small so you had to order a few just to touch the sides, which was ok by me as the food was really good. I just wish I remembered the name of it. Anyway we ate so much food and also drank a few too many beers. Some of the group had an early start the next morning, as they were flying back home, so we said goodbye, which then just left, Hiro, Michael, Emma, Charlotte, Michelle, Kristen and myself to continue on. We went to a bar, which had all these little rooms and as we walked past one room there was all these businessmen with a couple of Geisha to entertain them.
After a few more drinks we said goodbye to Michelle and Kristen then, we ended up going to a little Japanese bar in one of the alleyways. It was of the bars where you could only fit about 5 people in and the doors closed right behind you. The bar was run by this really lovely Korean lady who kept our beers topped up, the sake flowing and giving us a weird Korean carrot rice wine, which was awful, but it was still good fun. We then fell out of the bar and went to a karaoke bar. By this stage it was already 2am and we were well pickled.
We got ourselves a private room as there was no way I was going to sing in front of some random strangers. We all took turns in singing, even I did and I'm not one for singing, in shower or car maybe but not out loud in front of people. We sung so many songs and we even had instruments to play along with the music. It was so much fun. We eventually fell out the door about 5.30am and thought we should call it a night.
