Today we went to the Cu Chi Tunnels, which is a 2-3 hour drive from Saigon. When we arrived we got our tickets and were taken through to the video hut where we watched a 10-minute video on the Cu Chi Tunnels. We arrived in Saigon in the arvo and thankfully had a room to myself. After checking in I met Susan and Marc downstairs and we headed off for a walk around Saigon. We went to the Notre Dam Cathedral, The Reunification Palace and tried out KFC Vietnam style. Today we were leaving for Hoi An by bus. Its a 4 hour bus trip from Hue to Hoi An, so to break up the trip we stopped at the North and South Gates, where we checked out the American and French bunkers, China Beach and the old American Airbase. We arrived in Hoi An about 2pm and this time I had to share with Esra. We arrived at the hotel at about 8.30am and had a shower before going on a motorbike tour of Hue. As Id never been on a motorbike before I got to ride with the guide up the front which was good as I got a commentary on the sights as we drove by. We were taken to the Imperial Citadel, Tu Du Tomb, a local hat maker, a hill with bunkers, lunch at a Nunnery and an incense maker. This was one of the best tours so far. Today we are leaving Hanoi on the overnight train to Hué. We weren't leaving until about 7.30pm so we had the whole day to do and see any last minute things in Hanoi.
